Acts 11:21-24
The hand of the Lord was with them, and a great number became believers and turned to the Lord. News of this came to the ears of the church in Jerusalem, and they sent Barnabus to Antioch. When he came and saw the grace of God, he rejoiced, and he exhorted them all to remain faithful to the Lord with steadfast devotion; for he was a good man, full of the Holy Spirit and of faith. And a great many people were brought to the Lord.
It was in Antioch that the disciples were first called "Christians."
Now that you have experienced anew the power and joy of our resurrected Lord, what next? In Sunday school we talked about the different ways we experience what Jesus has done for us. Is it more meaningful to say that Christ died for us, or that he rose from the dead? The two ideas do not have to be in opposition to one another, but they speak differently to the way we will respond to the gift of life we have been given. We are called to be an Easter people. Go forth and share!
